Somersby Falls | Somersby | NSW

Only an hour north of Sydney's centre, Somersby Falls feels like a world away from the chaos of the concrete jungle.

There is a grassy picnic area with BBQ's, making it a great spot to have a day-getaway from the city with friends and parking is available for a small fee. From concrete to creek, the Somersby walking track lead us down a railed stairway under the treetops into an unexpected oasis that iss seemingly straight out of Disney's 'The Jungle Book'.

Slabs of tiered rock and a valley littered with moss-covered boulders makes for an incredible waterway to explore if you're agile. We ventured down the valley in bare feet, though I suggest you bring comfortable shoes if this isn't your norm, as there are sharp and slippery rocks in some places. After rock jumping like mountain goats down the valley, we came to a small precipice where a curtain of water hurled over the edge to a pool below.

A steep but very short decent (2M) guided by knotted rope places you a top a naturally-formed platform that overlooks the pool where you swim. You can set your things down here or climb to the bottom pool under the trees. We opted to shower under the curtain of fresh water and explore the cavernous hideaway created behind it.
